Maria Mikus was born and raised in Chicago until the winter winds eventually blew her west to San Diego, where she has proudly been a resident for more than 30 years. Her three children all attended the local schools in Pacific Beach, and she spent years involved with the PTO, fundraising, and championing the strengths of our neighborhood schools.

Professionally, Maria built her career in sales and marketing within the health‑tech and benefits space, partnering with employers to help their teams navigate the complexities of the healthcare system. Her work has always centered on making healthcare easier to understand and access — a passion that aligns closely with the mission of PB Village.

A traveler at heart, Maria has explored more than 32 countries and brings a global perspective to community building. Rooted in her Midwest upbringing, she believes deeply in creating a caring, connected neighborhood where people look out for one another. She is excited to bring that spirit to PB Village and help make aging at home feel supported and possible.

Amanda Harlin serves as Treasurer of Pacific Beach Village — which means she's the one making sure the books balance while everyone else has all the fun. A St. Louis native, Amanda moved to San Diego over 25 years ago and immediately understood what all the fuss was about. Before settling down, she and her family embarked on an adventure that spanned over a decade living abroad in Belgium, Scotland, and the UAE. She spent time volunteering in every community she landed in, from running finances for the school parent organization to teaching ‘people of determination’ to sail on the Arabian Gulf (without anyone falling overboard), but every road led back to San Diego.

For Amanda, home has never just been a place — it's the people in it. That belief is what drew her to Pacific Beach Village, and what she brings to her role as Treasurer. With over two decades of finance and operations experience, she has spent her career turning numbers into decisions.  However, what excites her most about PB Village is simpler than any spreadsheet: the idea that neighbors can genuinely look out for one another, and that growing older in the place you love should never feel like something you have to figure out alone.

Talia Herman is grounded in a belief that strong communities are built through care, connection, and showing up for one another. She was raised in a small farming community in central Saskatchewan, Canada, where hard work, kindness, and helping neighbors were simply a way of life. That foundation was shaped further by her family’s commitment to caring for others, including the local nursing home built by her grandfather. Growing up, Talia spent time volunteering with residents—experiences that instilled a lasting respect for dignity, compassion, and supporting people as they age.

Her career began in sales and marketing within the fitness and wellness industry, where she worked closely with clients and partners to build relationships, drive growth, and help people prioritize their health and well-being.

A Pacific Beach resident since 2010, Talia is proud to call this community home and deeply rooted in it. She sees PB Village as a natural extension of the values she was raised with—helping create a neighborhood where aging adults feel supported, connected, and able to remain in the homes they love.
