Volunteers are the heart of PB Village. You don’t need special experience — just a willingness to help a neighbor and be part of a caring community.
Whether you have a few hours a month or more time to give, volunteering is a meaningful way to build friendships, stay connected, and make a real impact in the lives of aging adults in Pacific Beach.
Many volunteers say they receive just as much as they give — a sense of purpose, connection, and community.
All volunteers are carefully screened and matched based on their interests, availability, and comfort level. You will never be asked to do more than you feel comfortable with.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways to get involved with PB Village, some of these areas include:
Help a Neighbor at Home
- Friendly phone check-ins
- Social visits and companionship
- Occasional meal delivery
- Light household help or minor repairs
- Temporary pet care assistance
- Help with small home projects
Share Your Skills & Expertise
- Teach a class such as yoga, art, cooking, or technology
- Help with technology workshops or one-on-one tech support
- Assist with social media or communications
- Join a committee or help organize events and program
Become a Volunteer Driver
Help members stay independent and connected by providing transportation to:
- Medical or dental appointments
- Grocery stores, libraries, and local errands
- PB Village events and activities
Members must be able to enter and exit vehicles independently. No lifting or physical assistance is required.

Volunteer Screening & Background Checks
Due to the nature of the work done by volunteers, as well as the requirements of our insurance policy, background and driving checks will be conducted. The background checks will include a criminal background check with federal, state, and local justice agencies, as well as with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Background checks are conducted securely through Checkr. Results remain confidential, and PB Village only receives a pass/fail notification.
